The background
Why the list is grouped this way.
Most delays in a personal return come from one missing slip or receipt. Gathering by group means you can see at a glance which part of your year is complete.
Questions
When do the slips arrive?
Most T4, T4A and T5 slips are issued by the end of February; T3 slips from trusts and mutual funds can arrive at the end of March. RRSP receipts for the first 60 days of the year come from your financial institution after March 1.
Do I need receipts for everything?
You don’t send receipts with your return, but you need to keep them — generally for six years — because the CRA can ask for them. Childcare, medical and donation claims are among the most commonly reviewed.
Where is my progress saved?
Only in this browser on this device, using local storage. Nothing is uploaded. Save a text copy or print the list to keep it elsewhere.
When is the return due?
Generally April 30, or June 15 if you or your spouse had self-employment income — though any balance owing is still due April 30. Confirm the dates for your year with your accountant.
